My Journey So Far

Jennifer Rizk

About Me

Hi, I'm Jennifer Rizk, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Novella Psychiatry.

I've been a nurse for 14 years, and I started my career in the Neuro ICU. I've always been fascinated by the brain and how it works, so when I decided I wanted to further my education, psychiatry felt like a natural direction for me.

I went on to earn my Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University and became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I chose psychiatry because I wanted to better understand the connection between the brain, our emotions, and our behavior. I also wanted to be part of changing the way we talk about mental health and helping to reduce the stigma that still keeps many people from asking for help.

Over the years, I've worked with people from many different backgrounds and at different stages of life. That experience eventually led me to start Novella Psychiatry and create a practice of my own.

For me, mental health should be treated just like any other part of our health. Asking for help shouldn't be something anyone feels embarrassed or ashamed about. Sometimes taking that first step is the hardest part, and I want Novella to be a place where people feel comfortable taking it.

Personalized Care Plans

I work closely with each patient to understand their symptoms, experiences, concerns, and goals. Together, we develop a thoughtful treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle considerations, and other strategies to promote emotional well-being.

Building Trust & Partnership

At Novella Psychiatry, I believe that effective mental health care begins with trust, open communication, and a strong patient-provider relationship. You should feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns, and having a voice in the decisions that affect your mental health.

Your story matters. Your care matters.

An Integrative Approach

I offer an integrative approach to psychiatry that considers the whole person—not just their symptoms. By combining traditional psychiatric care with complementary approaches, I work collaboratively with individuals to better understand their unique needs, goals, and experiences. My focus is on creating personalized treatment plans that support emotional well-being, resilience, and lasting positive change.
