Medication is One Part of Your Care
Psychiatric medication can be an important part of treatment for some people. Finding an appropriate medication and dose, however, is not simply a matter of writing a prescription.
I approach medication management as an ongoing process that considers your symptoms, treatment history, response to medication, side effects, lifestyle, and goals.
Depending on your situation, medication management may include:
- Reviewing your current medications
- Discussing how you are responding to treatment
- Monitoring potential side effects
- Considering medication adjustments when appropriate
- Discussing treatment goals
- Reviewing previous medication experiences
- Coordinating additional care when needed
I want you to understand the reasoning behind treatment recommendations rather than feeling like medication decisions happen without your input.
Medication is not always the only component of psychiatric care. Sleep, stress, relationships, physical health, daily routines, and other factors can influence how you feel.
When appropriate, I may incorporate supportive therapy, lifestyle strategies, additional evaluation, or referrals into your overall care plan.
Ongoing Communication Matters
Your response to medication can change over time. That is why follow-up care matters.
I use ongoing appointments to understand what is working, what may need attention, and whether your treatment continues to align with your needs.
